Tesla was able to increase the Model Y’s maximum EPA range to 315 miles (506 kilometers), compared to the previous estimate of 280 miles (450 kilometers)

During the Q4 earnings call, Tesla, now the world’s largest and most valued EV car manufacturer, provided some additional insight into their newest and hottest product: the Model Y. According to the California-based company, the Model Y can now go 315 miles (506 kilometers) on a single charge, making it the world’s most energy-efficient SUV. Furthermore, that’s a big improvement over the previously stated figure of 280 miles (450 kilometers).

However, that’s not the most impressive thing. here. Both the dual-motor Long Range and Performance variants are both listed at 315 miles (506 kilometers). If you don’t think that’s an accomplishment, this is more than enough for 90% of daily commutes for travelers in most areas of the world, making the Model Y the perfect soccer mom / work commute vehicle where you can attain that daily commute with plenty of juice in the battery packs left.

Due to continued engineering progress of the Model Y all-wheel drive (AWD), we have been able to increase its maximum EPA range to 315 miles, compared to our previous estimate of 280 miles.

In the end, it’s not just about the sheer capacity of the batteries, but also how this energy is used and Tesla is pursuing efficiency unlike any other company out there.
